When the "groomsmaid" arrived in the groom's "getting ready" room with the rest of the bridal party, she was sweetly greeted by the others. To fit in with the groomsmen, she opted to wear a suit and tie, instead of a bridesmaid dress. Weddings today don't always follow a traditional script, and having men on the bride's side or women on the groom's side is common. Some couples opt out of having a bridal party altogether. Some have enormous parties, some have just a maid or matron of honor and a best man. The bridal party is a very personal decision, and it is great couples can choose to make it their own, instead of having to follow a script.
