Getting ready for a wedding is just as much a part of the day as the ceremony and reception. As a former photojournalist, I feel it's important to capture the entire day, the entire story. And that means doing photos of the groom(s) and groomsmen getting ready as well as the bride(s) and bridesmaids.
Each room has its own vibe, and it's fun for couples to see what their partner was doing in the hours before the ceremony.
Sometimes there's emotion, joy, nervousness, laughter, tears. Sometimes, it's all business. Sometimes there's terrible movies playing on the television or a sports game. Sometimes music blaring (I'm always happy when it is 80s music!)
I loved the lighting in this groom's getting-ready room, and his confident, tender, and thoughtful demeanor.
