Having a signature drink at the cocktail hour and reception is a fun way to show your personality. This cocktail was presented at the Tinsmith in Madison Wisconsin for a December wedding. Guests can enjoy something new, and bartenders can focus on a couple main drinks. While I never drink while photographing a wedding, I've been SO tempted by some of the creative cocktails! Sometimes, couples or guests encourage photographers to have a drink. To counter that in a gentle way, I once told a very nervous and anxious mother of a bride "no thank you." But she seemed disappointed or unhappy I turned down her offer of a glass of wine. So I just said, jokingly, "I show up drunk." And she spat her drink and laughed. It broke the ice, she settled down, and everything was good. I'm not sure where that came from--I just said it! From that moment forward, that has become my standard line when offered a drink.
